TENREC eating mealworm.

Must be Saturday night.

Normally the quills on the head are down flat against the neck/body. But when there's a bright light, they make them move forward to protect the eyes. Also if they are frightened, they put the quills forward and ram into your hand. Some of the quills are then left in your flesh. They actually come out like a porcupine.. Very useful...

Bath time.

After bath.
You can see one with the quills up
in the lower right corner.

Unlike the next picture, their eyes are VERY tiny.
That next picture makes them look like they have normal sized eyes.
Actually, the eyes are the size of the head of a straight pin.
